I have had the pleasure of working regularly with Qiss Reclame & Resultaat, often taking on small freelance projects they send my way. Through them, I was introduced to a client who was launching her own brand, Sir. B. Dogwear, and was looking for a unique and personal illustration of her dog to use on items such as bags, stickers and other branding materials.
Sir. B. Dogwear is a small business that creates handmade dog collars and accessories. The client wanted a line art illustration of her dog that would not only serve as a strong branding element but would also reflect her pet’s individual character. She imagined something detailed and classic, with a look inspired by the style seen in Peaky Blinders.
I created two illustrations for her. The first showed her dog facing forward, wearing a tall top hat and a bow around his neck. Although I usually prefer a more minimal style, the detailed approach made it clear that this was her dog, capturing the features that made him unique.
The second design showed the dog in profile, turning his head. This was a creative nod to her brand’s slogan, “Let’s turn some heads,” and added a subtle sense of movement and personality. Both illustrations were drawn using hand rendered brush strokes to give a traditional, crafted feel.
I worked from several reference photos to ensure the likeness was accurate. The colour palette and surrounding text were chosen by the client to reflect the overall identity of her brand.
This project was a great example of creative collaboration and adapting my illustration style to suit a client’s vision, resulting in something truly personal and memorable.
